Florida District Convention Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some tips to make it an even more enjoyable experience!

 

What should I wear?

  • Casual attire is the norm for convention attendees.
  • Patriotic clothing (red, white and blue) is the favored attire for One Nation Under God breakfast, or any other time you want. Don’t forget your Exchange Club Pins.
  • Evening wear is appropriate for the Annual Banquet on Saturday evening.

 

Can I vote at Convention?

  • Yes, if your club is in good standing and your Convention Credential form is turned in. If that didn’t happen, talk to the Credentials Committee.

 

Can I bring family members with me?

  • Yes, Yes, and Yes! This is a great opportunity for a special family vacation. This year is an exceptional opportunity for the entire family to enjoy the St. Petersburg. i.e. Baseball, Tennis, Volley Ball in the sand, Rock Wall Climbing, Swimming, Relaxing, and if you come a day early………..go to the beach and or the Golf Tournament on Thursday at 1:00pm at a very nice course in Vero.

 

What events can I attend?

  • Thursday: Golf Tournament, free time, networking, social hour, dinner together.
  • Friday afternoon: Networking, socializing, having fun at all the amenities here at Dodger Town. All events are open to everyone.
  • The Friday night B-B-Que, District Youth Recognition Luncheon, Saturday night Banquet, and One Nation Under God Breakfast, require tickets. Be sure to get yours early!

 

I have other questions; where do I go?

  • The staff working the Registration desk can help you with information on convention/symposium events and registration.
  • Hotel staff can help with hotel-related or Vero Beach questions.
  • There will be local info and map in the registration packet.
  • The convention bulletin board is used by members to post notices about various events during convention.

 

What’s a hospitality room?

  • A party hosted by Home Clubs in the Vero beach area.
  • Meet other members in a social setting and enjoy some good food and beverages. Location and times for the hospitality room are usually posted on the bulletin board near Registration. Will also be in your registration packet.

 

What else can I do at Convention/Symposium?

  • Hear from our own NATIONAL PRESIDENT ELECT Floyd Culver.
  • You can bid on great items at the auctions benefiting the District Scholarship Trust and the District Child Abuse Prevention Trust. You might even get a chance to bid on the FAMOUS Parrot Head Hat.
  • You can network with Exchangites from across the State.
  • Attend any one of the 4 Training sessions on Saturday afternoon. Web site building, Growth, PR, Fund Raising, and Leadership Training.
  • Enjoy great food and social time.
  • Share ideas with other club members on Programs of Service, Fund Raising, Membership Growth, Retention and New Club Building.
  • It’s a great way to learn about successful projects that other clubs are doing, and how they are doing them.
